Who we are
FindItWiser is made by DIYWiser Pty Ltd, an Australian company based in Toowoomba, Queensland. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the FindItWiser app and website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Questions or requests: support@finditwiser.com
What we collect
- Account information. Your email address and password (stored securely by our authentication provider), and the display name you choose.
- Your inventory content. The items, containers, rooms, notes, tags, dates, and photos you add, including receipt and document attachments you choose to upload.
- Activity within the app. Things like your item count, XP, streak, and organisation scores, which power features such as the Home Health Score and leaderboard.
- Support messages. Anything you send us through the in-app support form or by email.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or browsing history, and the FindItWiser website does not use advertising trackers.
Device permissions and why we ask
- Camera to photograph items and receipts, and to scan QR stickers.
- Photo library to attach existing photos to items.
- NFC to read FindItWiser tags when you tap them.
- Notifications for reminders you control, such as expiry alerts, streak reminders and checked-out item nudges. These are scheduled on your device from your own data, not sent from a server.
Each permission is optional, asked for in context, and can be changed at any time in your device settings.
AI Identify
When you use AI Identify, the photo you selected is sent securely to our AI provider, Anthropic, to detect the items in it. The photo is used to generate the item suggestions returned to you and is processed under Anthropic's commercial terms, which do not permit the use of our data to train their models. AI Identify only ever runs when you tap the button; no other photos are analysed.
Where your data lives
Your account and inventory are stored with Supabase on servers located in Sydney, Australia. Photos and attachments are stored in the same region. Because our AI provider processes AI Identify photos in the United States, that specific feature involves a cross-border disclosure; we only use providers that commit to appropriate data protection standards.
The leaderboard
FindItWiser includes an optional worldwide leaderboard. The only information visible to other users is your display name, rank, and XP. Your items, photos, email and everything else stay private to you. If you prefer not to be identifiable, simply choose a display name that isn't your real name; you can change it at any time in your profile.
What we never do
- We never sell your personal information.
- We never show advertising or share your data with advertisers.
- We never look through your inventory except where needed to resolve a support request you've made, or as required by law.
Sharing with service providers
We share data only with the providers needed to run FindItWiser: Supabase (database, authentication and file storage), Anthropic (AI Identify processing), Apple (app distribution and, when Plus launches, subscription billing), and our website host. Each acts on our instructions. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Retention and deleting your data
We keep your data for as long as you have an account. You can permanently delete your account and everything in it, including all photos and attachments, from inside the app: Profile → Account → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. You can also email us to request deletion or a copy of your data.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access is protected by row-level security so each account can only reach its own records, and payment details for tag purchases are handled by our payment provider and never touch our servers.
Children
FindItWiser is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights and complaints
You can access, correct, export, or delete your personal information at any time, either in the app or by contacting us. If you have a privacy concern, email us first and we'll do our best to resolve it. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au. If you're in the UK or EU, you have equivalent rights under the GDPR, including the rights of access, rectification, erasure and portability.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, let you know in the app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
